Website maintenance

We maintain websites and applications that are already running, whether we built them or another company did.

Before applying an update to the live website, we check that everything still works.

01 / Service

What we do

  1. 01

    Regular updates

The PHP version, the framework and, on WordPress, the core, plugins and themes.

  2. 02

    Monitoring

Websites under maintenance are checked automatically for signs of an attack, and we keep track of when the SSL certificate and the domain expire.

  3. 03

    Incidents

When something breaks, we look for the cause and the fix.

  4. 04

    Abandoned plugins

We review plugins their author no longer maintains and, if needed, find a replacement.

  5. 05

    Backups

Depending on the website, we can add daily backups of the database and files to an external server.

  6. 06

    Domain and hosting

If we run them, we also take care of the renewals.

02 / Approach

Websites built by another company

If your website was built by another company and nobody looks after it now, we review it before confirming we can maintain it: which versions it runs and what needs updating. From there we suggest a plan and a quote.

If we find that, as it stands, it can't be maintained properly, we tell you before we start.

03 / Process

How we work

  1. 01

    Review

We look at the state of the website and what it needs.

  2. 02

    Proposal

We explain what the maintenance will include and what it costs.

  3. 03

    Ongoing maintenance

Updates, monitoring and anything else the plan includes.

04 / Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does a custom website need maintenance too?

Yes. Even without plugins, it uses Laravel and other PHP and JavaScript dependencies that release security updates, and each version of Laravel and PHP is supported for a limited time. With maintenance, we update Laravel and the dependencies, and adapt the website to the latest compatible PHP version. If another company runs the hosting, we ask them to switch the PHP version.

What happens if the website goes down?

If we run the hosting, we take care of getting it back up. If another provider runs it, the server side depends on them.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the website and on what the maintenance includes. It can be arranged as a fixed quote for a specific job, an hour bundle or a fixed monthly fee.
